Monopoly the Movie – Because why
Ahh Hollywood eh? Fresh out of ideas and jumping on anything, even board games (remember âBattleshipâ sigh). Now we think there are probably better board games to adapt to film than âMonopolyâ, but thatâs the one Lionsgate Studios have sunk their claws into. New Zealand-born screenwriter-director Andrew Niccol (âThe Truman Showâ) is set to write the adaptation.
“Hasbro is a partner with incredible global reach, one of the most compelling brand portfolios in the world, and a signature brand in Monopoly that has multigenerational appeal,” Lionsgate motion picture group co-president Erik Feig said. “Andrew Niccol is the ultimate world creator… He is an inspired choice to develop this timeless property into a big, crowd-pleasing event film that will appeal to kids, families and anyone who has ever played the Monopoly game.”
Monopoly! – Sure it’s a fake poster, but it’s fun [img via ScreenCrush].
The âMonopolyâ movie is being seen as a tent-pole venture that will appeal to all the family, with the story revolving around a young boy making his fortune via Chance and Community. For those not familiar with the term, a tent-pole movie essentially means something that is tied into other things, usually merchandising, cue all the new âMonopolyâ products.
See “Monopoly” with your friends and family, sit in the cinema for 4 hours, leave hating one another… especially THAT GUY, you know who you are.
Coming soon âYahtzee the Movieâ ;p
