Carthage deck building board game on Kickstarter:

Another Kickstarter heads-up, with SAS Creative announcing Carthage, a deckbuilding board game. It's not the first board game to use Carthage as a theme, with a multitude over the last couple of decades, but it looks pretty good.

In Carthage players move around a hex-based arena and face off in gladiatorial warfare to earn crowd favor, gain armor, and battle to the death. Luke Seinen, the designer of Carthage states “The board game community really needs a good Gladiator game. A game that makes you feel the fear, risk, and adrenaline of being in a gladiatorial contest. Carthage answers that call!”

Well, we doubt that, you're not going to be torn to shreds playing a board game, but hey, what's a little artistic licence.

Carthage features Graphic Novel art style, and uses the blended mechanics of deckbuilding, hand management, and ruthless "take-that" combat. Also included, is a unique modular ruleset which allows players to play game matchmaker, altering the game complexity, playtime, and strategic depth.
