Tabletop Game News of the Week – Gameapalooza Round Up for 12 October through October 18, 2015

Iello had added promos to its online store, the catch, you get them when you pre-order upcoming products, specifically “Sapiens” and “The Big Book of Madness”. We mentioned this in last weeks news update for “Sapiens”, now with the addition of “The Big Book of Madness”, it seems like this is set to become a thing.

Greater Than Games is set to release “Spirit Island” in the third quarter of next year. The game is a cooperative area-control title around the theme of elemental spirits. The spirits inhabit “Spirit Island” and it’s up to players to shoo away those pesky colonial settlers. Not a short game with an estimated play time of 90-120 minutes, but it has a little buzz around it due to its Kickstarter campaign. One for the periphery.

“Crabs Adjust Humidity” gets a boxed set version of its “Cards Against Humanity” – unofficial – expansion. The box contains 560 cards, or all five expansion decks. If you’re on the lookout for it it’s called the “Crabs Adjust Humidity: Omniclaw Edition” and it retails for $50USD.

Z-Man Games and Pretzel (sister company) highlighted a few new projects this past week, including “Carcassonne: Over Hill and Dale”, “Flick ‘em Up: Stallion Canyon” expansion, “Russian Railroads” expansion “German Railroads” and finally “Thunder and Lightning” (very very frightening – Ed.), a card game based on Norse mythology, specifically Thor and his pals in Asgard.

Cheapass Games is back with more Doctor Lucky! They’ve added a new “Deluxe 19.5th Anniversary Edition of Kill Doctor Lucky” to, you guessed it, Kickstarter. The game features revised rules, new artwork and of course just looks more modern (given the first edition released back in 1996). You can check out “Deluxe 19.5th Anniversary Edition of Kill Doctor Lucky” on Kickstarter and you’ve got loads of time as it’s got 29 days to go at time of writing (and is already way over funded).

Miniatures board game “Rivals Masters of the Deep” is back up on Kickstarter. This one looks beautiful and runs for another 29 days (at time of writing). It had a few problems the first time, will you be backing it this time? There’s a lot of buzz around this one, because, those minis, wow.

Gale Force Nine announced the title of its upcoming “Doctor Who” board game this week and that title is, get ready for it, because it doesn’t exactly roll off the tongue “Doctor Who: Time of the Daleks – A Web of Time Game”. It’s set to release early next year. As a huge “Doctor Who” fan, can’t help but still feel ‘meh’ for this one.

So there you have it fellow tabletop gamers, your tabletop game news for the week (that we never covered in depth). As is usually the case, we will add to this if anything huge happens over the weekend.
