Mechs vs. Minions – A League of Legends board game

If you’re bringing out a board game and you’re hoping for success, what better way than tapping into a userbase boasting over 100 million players a month. Such is the case for League of Legends creative team Riot Games, who are now expanding – it seems – into board games, with the release of their debut effort “Mechs vs. Minions”, due for release mid October.

Mechs vs. Minions is a 10 scenario driven miniatures game, featuring a modular board, dice and a mystery box! Players will take on the roles of League of Legends champs Tristana, Heimerdinger, Corki and Ziggs fighting off hordes of marauding minions (all held in sweet custom inserts and the heroes are painted).

So, back to that Mechs vs. Minions Mystery Box, according to various sources that is a physical box hidden in the game box and inside lay a treasure, but the designers don’t want you to just open it, they want you to wait until the game prompts you. Wonder how many gamers won’t let curiosity get the better of them.

Mechs vs. Minions is set to release – stateside – October 13 and has a USD RRP of $75. You will be able to purchase it from the official Riot Games website.
