Ice Delivery hits Mind Games Melbourne

Well this is an odd one, but it’s Australian and it’s tabletop gaming related so, here goes. For those outside of Australia, “Mind Games” is one of Australia’s leading franchise retailers of tabletop games in Australia. They’ve been around since 1977 and have stores all over the country, as well as German style games, they sell RPG’s, toys, puzzles and a multitude of other things. One thing they don’t sell is hard drugs, so it came as quite a surprise to the team at Mind Games in Melbourne when a delivery of toys contained a whopping 4.7 million dollars worth of the drug ice.

Staff at the store became suspicious after 11 boxes were delivered for pick up by one customer. On opening the consignment of toy drums staff found “a crystalline substance” and called the police.

A 22-year-old Hong Kong national is due to re-appear before the Melbourne Magistrate’s Court today (1 July, 2015) charged with attempting to possess and import approximately seven kilograms of methamphetamine concealed in a shipment of toys. AFP Melbourne Office Manager Bruce Giles commended the staff of the store on their quick thinking.

“This is a great example of how members of the public can make a real difference by immediately reporting anything that may seem unusual or suspicious to the police. If it doesn’t feel right, trust your instincts and call police,” Commander Giles said.

Well done Mind Games Melbourne, for keeping that crap off the streets. Everyone knows there’s only one way to get a true high, rolling a double crit, leveling up in one session, or getting the Pac-Man card in Cards Against Humanity… areeee weeee rightttt?
