Remember yesterday we slightly bemoaned all the Cthulhu Mythos in tabletop gaming? Here we are again. Fantasy Flight Games is set to release “Omens of Ice” a new expansion for dice game “Elder Sign” in March next year.

We love a little “Elder Sign” here at Gameapalooza towers, it’s a great game, so in that sense it is good to see it getting another expansion, but our remark about the Mythos being milked still stands.

Omens of Ice takes you and your fellow investigators on a treacherous journey into the Alaskan wildernesses, where you must solve the mysteries of three terrible new Ancient Ones. Whether you choose to travel in summer or are forced to go in winter’s dark, at every step you’ll face terrible perils, from the port of Anchorage to the forest paths and mountain passes of the interior. You must constantly fight not only wild animals and ravenous monsters, but frostbite, starvation, and the madness that befalls many who enter this frozen, isolated, white world.

“Omens of Ice” includes new characters, new Ancient Ones and new encounters. The name refers to the Arctic expedition game mode, wherein players go all Dead of Winter, having to contend not only with the Mythos creatures, but also the hostile environment of Alaska itself.

“Omens of Ice” is set for general release in March with a US price point of $25USD (so let’s guess $40-$45 here in Australia (in line with the previous expansions).
