Pandemic: Reign of Cthulhu – Releasing this year!
You guys!! Matt Leacock has gotten together with Chuck D. Yager (“Rise of Cthulhu”) to bring us “Pandemic: Reign of Cthulhu”. Yes that’s right game fans, Cthulhu in a Pandemic style game… PANDEMIC MEETS CTHULHU. Okay we need to breathe, just give us a moment, Pandemic, but with Cthulhu. Breathe.
Pandelic: Reign of Cthulhu – What’s not to like it’s Pandemic… but.. Cthulhu Mythos.
“Pandemic: Reign of Cthulhu” sounds like the most epic thing in the world to us here at Gameapalooza, but then we are huge “Pandemic” nerds and we love the Cthulhu Mythos (actually one of the team hates Pandemic, but that’s a story for another time).
Needless to say feedback for it so far (and the news only really just hit) has fans of “Pandemic” rejoicing, whilst the naysayers are busily labeling it purely a cash grab (for shame!).
Okay so it’s not EXACTLY just a reskin of Pandemic. Will it be good? We’ll know on release.
Close inspection of the box back seems to suggest “Pandemic: Reign of Cthulhu” is more than a straight retheme / reskin. The components list shows 7 investigator figures, 26 cultist figures (in lieu of the 96 disease cubes?), 3 Shoggoth figures, 4 seal tokens, 44 clue cards (locations?), 12 relic cards, 24 summoning cards, 7 investigator cards, 4 player aid cards, 12 old one cards, 16 sanity tokens and a “sanity die”.
We don’t care what the naysayers think, fact is we won’t know if “Pandemic: Reign of Cthulhu” will be amazing or sucks until we’ve have a chance to play it. On paper though we’re excited.
Are you excited for “Pandemic: Reign of Cthulhu”?
