The Legend of Korra board game announced
Not going to lie readers, squealed a little when this press release popped up. REALLY hoping they do the Korra series justice with this tie-in, it's such a fantastic series.
If you've not seen The Legend of Korra it's the animated sequel to Avatar: The Last Airbender. The main character is a female airbender named Korra and it follows her spiritual growth. For a 'cartoon' it's actually a pretty deep show.
The Legend of Korra board game comes to us from designers Sen-Foong Lim and Jessey Wright. Like the first season of the TV series the first game focuses on the pro-bending sports league, a sort of "Gladiators" (game show / TV) meets Frisbee in airbending.
Players use card drafting to play as the Future Industries Fire Ferrets (the team Korra and her friends are in in the TV series) or the White Falls Wolfbats (defending champions).
play cards to place elemental tokens around the board in an effort to overwhelm their opponent. As in the show, pro-bending matches are a game of push and pull, with the objective to be the team that has either advanced the farthest forward, or completely knock their competitors out of the ring.
The Legend of Korra: Pro-bending Arena board game will launch on Kickstarter this summer, with a retail release this fall and an expected MSRP of $49.99.
